Our team has handed over a new learning hub, constructed to enhance education at Scarning VC Primary School.
The project, part of Norfolk County Council’s Framework for Construction Works, comprised construction of a standalone 2-classbase Teaching Hub, situated in close proximity to the existing Victorian school. The new building was formed with a contractor designed, prefabricated timber-frame superstructure, erected over a pre-cast beam and block floor. External finishes include rain-screen and facing-brick cladding with a standing seam roof. Early engagement with our supply-chain specialists ensured the timber frame was well coordinated and delivered two weeks ahead of programme. Varying ground levels required construction of a sequential ramp allowing access for all. The project was completed within a live school environment, demanding stringent management of all deliveries, noise, vibration and safeguarding measures, allowing the school to remain fully operational throughout the project.
Nick King, the school’s head-teacher, commented:
“I am pleased to put on record our thanks to Cocksedge for the excellent job they have done. Gerry (Site Manager) and the team could not have been better in all aspects of the project and we are delighted with the excellent build. I would definitely recommend Cocksedge in the future”.
