Children and Staff at King’s Lynn’s St Edmund’s Academy have celebrated the start of our exciting £8million design and build project, which will see them move into a brand new modern school on a new site with a new name.
Our team organised the event to celebrate the start of work, which will see us build the new two-storey 420 place Greenpark Academy, with sports pitches, along with a 56 place nursery, as part of Norfolk County Council’s Framework for Construction Works.
Headteacher of St Ed’s, Jill Graver, and Lisa Cook, Chief Executive Headteacher of the Ad Meliora Trust led the ground-breaking at the new site. A time-capsule which contained drawings, artefacts and newspaper cuttings was also buried by 18 pupils representing all classes in the school, to commemorate the build. Guests, including representatives from Norfolk County Council and NPS Property Consultants Ltd enjoyed cupcakes displaying the new Greenpark Academy logo. The project involves extensive sub-soil remediation, which will be carried out by our specialist in-house groundworks division Bowie Construction.
Speaking at the event our Construction Director, Justin Buckingham, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to work on such an important project for the north Lynn community and we’re looking forward to working closely with the school, pupils and local community as we deliver this great new school”. Lisa Cook, Executive Headteacher, added: “It is so exciting to be here for the ceremony, thank you so much for inviting us, the new school is now very real for us all”.
