Project Scope

Formation of Basement Library & Accessibility Improvements at Ridley Hall Theological Training College, Cambridge

Approximate Value

£1.4 million

Client

Ridley Hall Theological Training College, Cambridge

Completion Date

April 2021
BRIEF OVERVIEW

The works comprised major underpinning and lowering the floor of the existing basement to form a new Library space, complete with bespoke bookshelves and cabinetry. New external steps and a platform lift have been installed to provide access for all to the new facilities.

Rooms off Staircase “A” have also been converted back into residential accommodation including double rooms and small apartments for married students. This involved bringing the under-used stair-tower back into use with a much-improved means of escape. External works included formation of access ramps to the four main entrances complete with purpose made balusters and handrails. The project was completed within a live College setting with selected works undertaken outside of teaching times to mitigate noise disturbance.
