The Chartered Association of Building Engineers’ Built Environment Awards highlight excellence and recognise the industry’s finest projects with the winners to be announced at CABE annual conference and dinner on 13th October.
The project involved the transformation of a redundant British Legion Hall constructed in the 1960’s with an innovative design to form a New Community Hub. The new centre offers a range of services focused on families who live in the area, including a community café named Williams’ Kitchen in honour of YMCA founder George Williams, a children’s nursery complete with soft-play facilities, and a multi-use space suitable for community activities such as youth clubs and wellbeing groups. The Hub also includes office accommodation which has become the new base for YMCA Norfolk’s management team.
